Karolina Nowak is a dedicated social worker affiliated with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) as well as the Ontario Association of Social Workers (OASW) with over 15 years of practice experience. She is an energetic and passionate clinician that is highly skilled in working with children, youth, and families to provide insights, reflections and meaningful interventions that contribute to collective healing.
Karolina has extensive experience working with vulnerable populations, including youth experiencing homelessness, refugee families, and individuals facing mental health and addiction challenges. Her background includes crisis prevention and intervention, child and adolescent development, and facilitating therapeutic interventions tailored to individual and family needs.
Karolina specializes in individual and family counseling, employing a multi-theoretical approach that includes Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy, Solution- focused, Relational psychotherapy, trauma- informed as well as other modalities. She also invites the use of nature-based therapeutic techniques, where possible, to enhance emotional regulation and foster a deeper connection to the environment which in turn promotes holistic healing. Karolina may also integrate techniques from Satir’s family therapy as with its focus on improving communication and relationships within families facilitates healthier family dynamics and enhances problem-solving capabilities. With adolescents, Karolina utilizes Motivational Interviewing to illicit change talk and future-orientation along with incorporating the Maturity Model framework with an emphasis on personal growth and emotional maturity.
Karolina’s therapeutic approach is client-centered, fostering a trusting, safe, and supportive environment. She customizes her sessions to meet the unique needs of each client/ family, providing a supportive space to help in navigating and managing their daily lives. Karolina is fluent in English, Polish, and Spanish.
Karolina obtained her Bachelor of Social Work in June of 2010 as well as her Master of Social Work in October 2024 both from Toronto Metropolitan University.
