Psychiatry & Medication Management Services
Our Medication Management Services
At BeWell Clinics, medication management is offered through a collaborative care model designed to support your mental health journey alongside therapy and assessment services.
We provide access to medication management through two medical pathways:
- Psychiatry (OHIP-covered)
- Nurse Practitioner (private-pay)
Both options are focused on medication management and ongoing collaboration with your care team.
Which Pathway is Right for Me?
Psychiatrists (MDs)
Psychiatrists are medical doctors who specialize in mental health and can prescribe psychiatric medication. At BeWell, Psychiatry services focus on short-term medication management within the public healthcare system. For long-term treatment, care can be transitioned to your FMD or our Nurse Practitioner.
Nurse Practitioners (NPs)
Nurse Practitioners are highly trained medical professionals, with advanced expertise in mental health and psychopharmacology. They are authorized to prescribe and manage psychiatric medications and work closely with our clinical team.
How It Works
Psychiatry (OHIP-Covered)
Psychiatric services at BeWell are covered by OHIP and provided in accordance with Ontario healthcare regulations. Services are available to all Ontario residents, including both active BeWell clients and individuals seeking care externally.
Your family doctor must complete a BeWell Psychiatry Referral Form. Click here to access the form or send this link to your primary care physician: Psychiatry Referral – Fill out form
Once received, our team will review it and advise if it is accepted or not. If the referral is accepted, our Care Team will book your first appointment.
Your Psychiatrist will work closely with you to determine the best treatment plan.
Nurse Practitioner Medication Management (Private-Pay)
BeWell also offers medication management through a Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (NP). Open to all residents of Ontario who are active clients at BeWell.
If you are an active client at BeWell, reach out to our Care Team by texting/calling at +1 647-715-3900 or via email info@bewellclinics.ca.
During your intake, your Nurse Practitioner will review your history and medical records and collaborate with your BeWell team to create a personalized treatment plan.
Benefit from timely medication & refill management support in a collaborative circle of care.

FAQ
We require at least 48 hours advance notice of any changes to your appointment or cancellations. Any changes between 48-24 hours will result in a 50% fee of the cost of your session. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us.
Finding the right specialist can be confusing! Here’s a breakdown of what each kind of professional offers:
Psychotherapist – See a psychotherapist for talk therapy if you need support, coping strategies, or personal growth through guided conversations. They cannot prescribe medication.
Psychologist – See a psychologist if you need mental health assessments, diagnoses, or structured therapy using evidence-based treatments. They do not prescribe medication.
Psychiatrist – See a psychiatrist if you may need medication management to support your mental health journey. They are medical doctors who can prescribe medication.
Our team of leading experts work together to make sure our clients receive the best care for their situation. If you are still unsure about what service or professional is right for you, contact us for a free consultation
You must have a valid OHIP card and referral completed by your family doctor or GP, in order to see our Psychiatrist. This includes patients who are enrolled in our Talk Therapy or Assessment Programs. Depending on the complexity of your condition, your referral may not be accepted if our Psychiatry team feels that they might not be able to support your care.
Psychiatry appointments are covered by OHIP, meaning your family doctor must send us a referral before we can book you. We do our best to have approved patients seen as promptly as possible.
