A genuine and supportive clinician, Laura integrates her professional and lived experiences to offer grounded, strengths-based care. As both a Certified Teacher and a clinician, she is adept at supporting individuals who are neurodiverse, experiencing overwhelming emotions, or simply looking for a space to better understand themselves and others.
Her diverse clientele ranges from youth to adults, including those navigating neurodiversity, chronic illness, and high-stress professions. Previously, Laura served as a Regional Mental Health Consultant for the school board, where she developed various executive functioning programs and led CBT and DBT groups for anxiety and emotional regulation to support learners across the region. As a teacher herself, she understands the unique challenges in the field and has a special focus on supporting other educators and those in caring/high-burnout professions.
Presently, Laura primarily works alongside clients on navigating ADHD and neurodiversity, making peace with anxiety, regaining their spark from depression, navigating complex health diagnoses, processing grief, and managing life’s challenges in a values-aligned way. She takes a holistic approach to her work—integrating somatic work, delving into the emotional landscape, and supporting people to work with their unique minds instead of against them. Paradoxically, when we accept ourselves exactly as we are right now, that is when we are most able to learn new responses and ways of being in the world.
Laura prioritizes building trust and rapport and takes an adaptable, creative approach to sessions based on the client’s hopes and goals. She is guided by the belief that everyone has inherent worth and strengths that can be drawn upon to build a happier, more balanced life. Her main therapeutic modalities include Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused (SFBT), and Mindfulness-Based approaches.
Education: Laura has a Masters in Counselling Psychology and Bachelor of Education and Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Psychology from Queen’s University. She has gained certification in SPACE, a groundbreaking caregiver-focused anxiety treatment. Additionally, Laura has special training in Narrative Therapy, Executive Functioning, and SBIRT, among others.
