Rhiannon is a registered Social Worker and Psychotherapist who has over a decade of clinical experience providing psychotherapy to children, adolescents and their families. Rhiannon has worked with young people and their families in areas such as anxiety, depression, self-esteem, school attendance, stress, emotional dysregulation, relationship difficulties, loss and trauma. Additionally, Rhiannon worked as a School Social Worker for a number of years until she returned to her passion focusing on the human animal bond. Most recently, Rhiannon has been supporting adults in their grief and loss journey.
Rhiannon adopts an integrated approach to therapy, drawing on principals from attachment theory, trauma-informed therapy and family system theory. Working in a collaborative therapeutic process, she pulls from a variety of therapeutic models including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Brief Solution Focused Therapy (BSFT), Narrative Therapy and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT).
Education: Rhiannon is a registered social worker in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) and is able to provide the controlled act of Psychotherapy. Rhiannon initially completed her Bachelor Degree of Social Work (BSW) and a BA in Anthropology, minor in Psychology from McMaster University. She then went on to complete her Master of Social Work degree (MSW) at the University of Toronto. Rhiannon also has her post grad certification in Bereavement Counselling from Mohawk College and a post grad certification in Animals in Human Health from the University of Denver allowing her to practice Animal Assisted Therapy.
