Sashauna is a compassionate and dedicated clinician who supports children, teens, emerging adults, and families. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology, bringing both academic training and lived experience to her work. She has a special passion for Black mental health, supporting women and parents, and helping clients build stronger, healthier relationships. Sashauna believes that every person is the expert of their own story, and she partners with clients to uncover the strengths, insights, and possibilities that already live within them.
In her work, she takes an eclectic and flexible approach, meeting clients where they are and tailoring strategies to their unique experiences. She believes mental health is about owning your story and discovering that with hope, you can write new chapters. Sashauna walks alongside clients as they take the wheel of their lives, guiding them from being a passenger in their story to stepping fully into the life they were always meant to lead. Her professional expertise includes crisis prevention and intervention, child and adolescent development, interpersonal difficulties, and designing therapeutic strategies for individuals and families.
Sashauna uses an integrative, trauma-informed, and strength-based approach to therapy, pulling from numerous therapeutic modalities and skill sets. She is especially committed to culturally affirming care for clients as a Caribbean woman who values the role of culture and identity in the healing process and offers faith-based integration when desired. She brings warmth and humour into sessions, creating a space to help clients feel safe, seen, and at ease. Drawing on her experience in the non-profit sector and working alongside multidisciplinary teams, Sashauna values collaboration in care and approaches therapy with a broad, holistic perspective that considers the complexity of each client’s experiences. Some of the challenges she supports clients with include emotional and behavioral challenges, anxiety and mood-related concerns, emotional dysregulation, family and relationship dynamics, school-related stress, navigating life transitions, ADHD and neurodivergence, parenting, and attachment-related challenges.
Beyond her professional commitments, Sashauna enjoys spending time with family in Jamaica, engaging in adventurous activities, exploring traditional cuisine, reading, and experimenting with new recipes. Her appreciation for literature and culinary exploration reflects her belief in embracing life fully and sharing meaningful experiences with others.
