Titles can be confusing and intimidating! Here’s a breakdown of what each kind of professional offers:
- Psychotherapists and Social Workers offer talk therapy. Their education and experience is comparable and are often covered under the same line item in insurance policies.
- Psychologists often have a Doctorate of Clinical Psychology and perform assessments and give medical diagnoses in BeWell’s Assessment programs. They also offer talk therapy.
- Psychiatrists are medical doctors who specialize in medication management and prescriptions for mental health concerns.
Our team of leading experts work together to make sure their patients receive the best care we can offer.

If you’re feeling stuck, misunderstood, disconnected, or repeating the same arguments, Couples Therapy can help. You don’t need to wait for a crisis. Couples therapy is a proactive way to strengthen your connection and grow together.
It’s not uncommon for one partner to be initially hesitant or resistant to Couples Therapy. However, open communication on the benefits of therapy introduces its potential to improve relationships and alleviate concerns. It can be helpful to involve a neutral third party, such as a trusted friend or family member, to encourage participation.
Couples Therapy is a tool to help all parties’ express concerns, process feelings, and work together to build the relationship you deserve. If your partner is not ready to begin, you can still start with individual sessions.
Parenting can be incredibly rewarding whilst incredibly challenging. At BeWell, we offer a range of services to support the parenting journey, including

- Emotional Support for Parents – Individual therapy sessions to explore your own experiences, stressors, and emotions related to parenting.
Parenting support is available for single or multiple parents. Individual parenting sessions are $186.00, while joint sessions (e.g., couples) are $231.00 for a standard hour.
Whether your child is in therapy or you’re simply looking for guidance, our clinicians are here to support your role as a parent every step of the way.
Family Therapy sessions can be billed to one designated representative or split between multiple parties if preferred.
Let us know your billing preferences in advance and our Care Team will set up a payment plan for your family. We aim to keep the process as simple and transparent as possible.
The maximum number of participants is flexible and depends on what is determined as clinically appropriate at the discretion of the clinician. While the minimum requirement is three people to deem sessions as family therapy, note that there is an additional $45.00 fee for every additional person after three people.
Our goal is to ensure everyone present actively participates and feels supported during sessions. Your therapist will work with your family to decide the best configuration for your unique circumstances.
Family Therapy is helpful for any family navigating change, stress, or conflict. It’s especially supportive for families experiencing:
- Communication breakdowns
- Parenting challenges
- Life transitions (such as divorce, blending families, physical relocations, or grief and loss)
- Children or youth struggling with emotional and/or behavioural concerns
- Mental health challenges affecting one or more family members
Family Therapy provides a space where everyone can be heard, improve their understanding of one another, and build healthier patterns of connection and support. It’s not about placing blame but rather working together to grow stronger as a family unit.
At BeWell, we prioritize creating a safe and trusting environment, with confidentiality being a key part of that. While parents and guardians are often involved in the therapeutic process, what children or youth share with their therapist is kept private, unless there is a safety concern.
We follow age-appropriate guidelines and always aim to keep parents informed while respecting the right to privacy. If there’s ever a risk of harm to the young person or others, therapists are required to break confidentiality to ensure safety. In these cases, we involve parents or guardians in a supportive and collaborative way.
Parental involvement is an important part of supporting a child’s mental health, but the level of involvement depends on the child’s age, capacity to consent, and the type of therapy provided.
- In Ontario, youth have the right to confidentiality once they are deemed capable of making their own treatment decisions, which can occur at any age based on the therapist and patient’s understanding.
Our clinicians aim to strike a balance between respecting patient privacy and keeping parents meaningfully involved. If safety concerns arise, therapists are legally required to inform parents and/or guardians.
At BeWell, we offer a range of supportive therapies and assessments tailored to the unique needs of children and youth. Services include:
- Talk Therapy – One-on-one support to through emotional challenges, develop coping strategies, and build self-awareness.
- Art Therapy – A creative outlet using drawing, painting, or crafting to express feelings that may be hard to put into words.
- Play Therapy – A developmentally appropriate way for children to explore emotions and experiences through play in a safe, therapeutic setting.
- Psychoeducational Assessment – A comprehensive assessment to identify learning strengths and challenges, including ADHD, learning disabilities, and academic accommodations.
- Gifted Assessment – Helps determine if a child meets the criteria for gifted identification, support academic placement, and enrichment planning.
A Registered Psychotherapist may still be completing their clinic hours under the supervision of another Registered Psychotherapist, and this must be designated under a “Qualifying” status! However, they are still fully trained, licensed, and able to treat patients!

As part of our integrative care approach, you will be assigned a personal Wellness Concierge who will accompany you throughout your mental wellness journey. Together, we will explore BeWell’s services and find the right therapist and/or program suited for your concerns. Our Therapist Match Guarantee ensures if you ever feel disconnected from your therapist or service, we will work together until we find the right match. Throughout your treatment, your clinicians will work with the Care Team to ensure your comfort, providing a safe environment to explore your thoughts and feelings and help set and achieve your wellness goals.
During your first appointment, you can expect the clinician to ask questions surrounding your main concerns, history, and background. Additionally, you are encouraged to share your current feelings and symptoms.
It’s normal to be anxious or uncertain before your first session! Opening up to someone can be a difficult process, especially if this is your first time seeking therapy, however, all our clinicians are highly compassionate individuals and fully trained registered mental health professionals to guide you through the process.
If at any point in your journey you feel your therapist is not the best fit for you, we encourage and empower you to reach out to your BeWell Care Team. Our Therapist Match Guarantee ensures if you ever feel disconnected from your therapist or service that we work together to find the best way to adjust, adapt, and match you with another clinician.
The therapy process is different for everyone.
There is no guaranteed number of sessions needed to attend to “start feeling better.” It all depends on individual needs and circumstances. You will work with your clinician on treatment goals and expectations to determine when the right time is to close this chapter of your mental health journey.
Therapy is both practice and treatment. It’s great to seek help when we are in need of it, but as with any other medical intervention, check-ins and maintenance yield the best results! Our clinicians allow the greatest schedule flexibility possible for your convenience. Additionally, we recognize time and money are precious resources and work with you to establish a schedule that supports your needs. Here are some scenarios as a baseline:
Short-term therapy: 6 to 12 sessions
- Ideal for focused concerns like managing stress, a breakup, or situational anxiety.
Medium-term therapy: 12 to 24 sessions
- Often used for moderate depression, anxiety disorders, or relationship challenges.
Long-term therapy: Ongoing (6+ months)
- Recommended for more complex or long-standing concerns, such as trauma, personality disorders, or deep-rooted emotional patterns.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or simply want to better understand yourself, therapy can be a supportive space to explore your thoughts and feelings. You don’t need to wait until things feel “bad enough”, starting therapy is a proactive step toward wellness.
Starting therapy can be scary and difficult to navigate, but we are here to help.

Our Psychiatrists are not conducting diagnostic assessments at the moment. Their role is limited to supporting treatment through short-term medication management.
At BeWell, we are committed to providing high-quality, accessible mental health care in accordance with the Health Insurance Act and the Commitment to the Future of Medicare Act (CFMA). Our psychiatrists offer OHIP-insured services.
For Internal Clients (actively enrolled in BeWell programs):
- You may be eligible to access OHIP-covered short-term medication management services with our psychiatrists.
- These services are available after completing one of our Assessment Programs or while attending Talk Therapy services.
- To see our Psychiatry team, we require a referral form from your Family Doctor. Contact our Care Team to help you sort out the next steps.
For External Clients (not currently enrolled in BeWell programs):
- Due to limited capacity, we are prioritizing psychiatric appointments for internal clients.
- However, we maintain an external waitlist for OHIP-covered medication management services. We will review referrals from the waitlist as availability permits.
- You may be added to this list by contacting us and submitting a referral along with your referral form from your Family Doctor
- Services will be offered to waitlisted individuals as availability allows.
At BeWell, we are committed to providing high-quality, accessible mental health care in accordance with the Health Insurance Act and the Commitment to the Future of Medicare Act (CFMA). Our psychiatrists offer OHIP-insured services. Due to high demand and limited psychiatrist availability, referrals are reviewed based on clinical fit and the capacity of our team. In many cases, clients already engaged in BeWell’s therapy or assessment programs can be more readily supported, as this allows for coordinated care.
We also maintain a waitlist for new external referrals, which are considered as capacity allows. If you would like to be added to this waitlist, please contact our BeWell Psychiatry Team at psychiatry@bewellclinics.ca. We will review referrals from the waitlist as availability permits.
We work with most extended health care plans and offer direct billing when available. We have different practitioners who can bill under Psychotherapy, Social Work, and/or Psychology for Couples Therapy sessions.
If you have any questions about insurance coverage, contact us.

The duration of couples therapy varies depending on the complexity of the issues, the commitment of the partners, and the approach of the therapist. Some couples may see progress in a few sessions, while others may benefit from longer-term therapy.

Couples Therapy typically involves meeting with a trained therapist who facilitates conversations between partners, helps identify unhealthy patterns, teaches communication skills, and guides the couple in developing strategies to address their issues constructively.
The duration of treatment can vary depending on your unique needs and the severity of psychological issues. Some individuals benefit from short-term interventions, while others require longer-term therapy. Treatment length is determined on a case-by-case basis.
It is recommended to seek collision-related assessment and treatment as soon as possible to prevent the development of long-term psychological complications. However, it is never too late to seek help, and treatment can be beneficial even if time has passed since the accident.
MVA Assessments and Treatment are covered by auto insurance policies. However, coverage may vary depending on the policy and the severity of psychological issues. It’s essential to check with your insurance provider to understand your specific coverage.
After your auto insurance provider approves the psychology services treatment plan (OCF-18 Form), there are several important steps in processing fees:
- Utilize Your Extended Health Benefits: Your auto insurance company requires that you exhaust all available extended health benefits for psychology services before we can initiate direct billing to your auto insurance company.
- Payment in the Absence of Direct Billing: In the event your extended health insurance company does not permit direct billing, you will be asked to make payment for services at the conclusion of each psychology session. Subsequently, we will provide you with a detailed receipt that you can submit to your extended health insurance for reimbursement.
- Notification of Exhausted Coverage: Once you have utilized the entirety of your psychology coverage from your extended health insurer, they will furnish you with a letter confirming that no further coverage is available. This will signify that any remaining expenses will be addressed through your auto insurance coverage.
Anyone involved in a Motor Vehicle Accident can benefit from MVA Psychology Assessment and Treatment. This includes drivers, passengers, and pedestrians who may have experienced trauma, anxiety, depression, or other psychological issues as a result of the accident.
MVA (Motor Vehicle Accident) Psychology Assessment and Treatment refers to the psychological evaluation and therapeutic interventions provided to individuals who have experienced psychological distress as a result of a car accident. These services aim to address trauma, emotional well-being, and overall mental health following an accident.
Yes, we do. We are one of the few WSIB-approved providers that can offer therapeutic care after your assessment. Our clinical team includes Registered Psychologists, Psychotherapists, and Social Workers with extensive experience with mental stress injuries and provide evidence-informed and goal-oriented treatment plans.
To have therapy covered under WSIB, you must first file a claim under the Workplace Safety Insurance Board (WSIB), the organization in charge of providing support to Ontario’s workers. After you obtain a claim number, the next step is to contact the BeWell Care Team for an intake.
To file a claim with WSIB, follow this link.
To get started on your WSIB mental wellness journey at BeWell, book a complimentary consultation here.
A WSIB Assessment is covered through the WSIB program. If you are approved for a WSIB Assessment after submitting a WSIB claim, there is no direct charge to you.
This program is for kids and adolescents between the ages of 7 to 17 years old. If you are over the age of 18, please visit our Adult Psychoeducational Assessment Program.
At BeWell Clinics, we understand that a comprehensive approach to understanding a child’s educational and developmental needs goes beyond academic testing alone. We recognize that certain learning challenges or behavioral issues may have underlying psychological or psychiatric factors that require expert evaluation and care.
When you choose our Psychoeducational Assessment Services, your child will benefit from the expertise of both our skilled Clinical Psychologists and our Child Psychiatrist. Our psychiatry services include access to a specialized child and adolescent psychiatrist, ensuring a thorough evaluation of any potential emotional or behavioral concerns that may impact your child’s learning and overall well-being.
Yes, parents or guardians are involved in the Psychoeducational Assessment. A parent or guardian must attend the Clinical Interview and Feedback appointments for the Psychoeducational Assessment. Your child is not required to be present during these appointments.
Your child’s in-person testing session will be completed one-on-one with a Psychometrist, who records unbiased and accurate assessment measures. During an assessment, our goal is to understand your child’s cognitive abilities, learning style, and any potential challenges. Parents involved in the testing session could inadvertently influence a child’s response or behavior.
You will receive fourteen (14) receipts of 60-minute charges of $250.00 to submit to your insurance provider for psychology services.
The cost of the program is $3,500.00 and the payment schedule is:
- $500 deposit during Initial Consultation to secure spot in the program
- $1,500 payment in-person after the first Testing session
- $1,500 payment in-person after the second Testing session
We offer one complimentary therapy session as part of our Assessment program with Supervised Practitioners. If you would like to continue therapy after the complimentary session, you may continue with the Supervised Practitioner for ongoing care, or the Care Team can recommend another clinician from our team of Registered Psychologists, Psychotherapists, and Social Workers.
Our treatment modalities are rooted in evidence-based goal-oriented practices, ensuring effective treatment approaches. We strive to offer the most current and evidence-supported treatments available.
Our Therapy Treatments include:
- Individual Therapy: One-on-one counseling sessions tailored to meet the unique needs of the individual. We offer different modalities such as:
- Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT): Helping individuals develop coping skills and challenge negative thought patterns.
- Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT): Helping individuals understand difficult feelings and emotions and develop skills to better manage them.
- Family & Couples Therapy: Addressing family dynamics and strengthening relationships.
Our primary focus is to assist individuals in better understanding their learning styles, cognitive abilities, and educational needs. We strive to offer the necessary support and interventions to help everyone reach their full potential, regardless of a formal diagnosis.
There is no guarantee a diagnosis will be provided at the end of an Assessment. Each individual is unique, and not every patient will meet criteria for a psychological diagnosis of a Mental Health Disorder following a comprehensive assessment.
Nevertheless, our assessment programs help to understand challenges affecting daily life and provide actionable insights to improve performance, quality of life, and suggest school and/or work accommodations (if needed).
Turnaround time for a Psychoeducational Assessment can vary depending on several factors, including the complexity of the Assessment, availability to complete in-person testing, the number of tests administered, and the completion of forms. Overall, the approximate turnaround can range between 10-12 weeks.
This program is covered by most Private Insurance plans. Please speak to your Insurance Provider to determine your:
- Total Psychology coverage for the year
- Cap on each Psychology session
- Coverage for Psychological Assessments
The Assessment Program has full Psychologist coverage, so it can be covered under Psychology Sessions or Psychology Assessments.
This link provides you with information you can discuss with your Insurance Provider to understand the type of coverage you may have.
The full Cost of the General Diagnostic Assessment Program is $1750.00 and is billed as follows:
- $250.00 deposit to secure your spot in the program
- This payment is credited towards the final feedback session.
- Six (6) payments of $250.00 over the course of three weeks.

Talk Therapy:

- Address emotional and behavioural challenges
- Address specific Mental Health concerns and challenges through targeted interventions
- Learn coping strategies, communication skills, and self-care techniques to improve your overall well-being.
Yes, you can participate in our Assessment Program if you are looking for a re-assessment. The psychologist will be asking for information from your previous assessment so please have any and/or all information from your previous diagnosis prepared for the psychologist to review.

For in-person appointments, materials will be provided. However, with virtual, online Art Therapy appointments, you are responsible for bringing the material to the session.
Your therapist will gauge your creative interests and explain the benefits of different types of art therapy best suited for you. Sessions can include working with different materials and techniques such as water paint, color pencils, and 3D art.
No. Art therapy is about self-expression and exploration, focusing on the psychological process rather than the finished product. Your Certified Art Therapist will guide you through the creative process of this insightful therapy method.
Psychiatry appointments are covered by OHIP, meaning your family doctor must send us a referral before we can book you. Kindly keep in mind that across the province there are wait times for psychiatry of up to six months. We do our best to have approved patients seen as promptly as possible.
You must have a valid OHIP card and a referral completed by your family doctor or primary care provider, in order to see a Psychiatrist at BeWell Health Centres. This includes patients who are enrolled in our Talk Therapy or Assessment Programs. Depending on the complexity of your condition, your referral may not be accepted if our Psychiatry team feels you require a higher level of care.

We require 24 hours (not including weekends or holidays) notice for any cancellations or changes to your appointment. Patients who provide less than 24 business hours’ notice, or no-shows, will be charged a cancellation fee equal to the full cost (100%) of the session.
Cancellations for appointments with a psychiatrist require 48 hours’ notice.
During the holiday months of November to December, we enforce a strict policy pertaining to late cancellations, no-shows, and last-minute changes to appointments in that anything inside the 24-hour window will incur the full cancellation fee (100%). The cancellation fee will apply unless the appointment is successfully rebooked within the next 48 business hours and within the clinician’s availability. The holiday season can be a challenging and demanding time for everyone, and it is important our clinician hours are treated with respect and consideration.
Our Psychiatry team aims to provide short-term, ongoing medication management whenever possible. However, during a diagnostic assessment, it may be determined that the complexity of the case requires a level of care beyond what we can provide.
Ongoing therapy is key to our treatment regimens, and our psychiatrists rely on therapy notes to inform their consultations.
Treatment options and next steps will be thoroughly discussed during the initial consultation. If the Psychiatrist determines that ongoing care would be better managed by the Family Doctor, the client will be transitioned back to their referring physician. To ensure continuity of care, the Psychiatrist will provide detailed recommendations, including medication guidelines, treatment protocols, and advice to support the physician in managing the client’s ongoing needs

We have clinicians who support children and youth with a variety of concerns and work with parents to support underage patients and help them grow their confidence. Treatment begins with parents undergoing an initial intake session to ascertain the primary concerns for the child. This helps our clinicians better grasp your concerns and treatment goals, as well as get a better idea of what home is like. Once complete, the clinician will begin booking sessions with the child and organize regular 30-minute parent update sessions, so you remain involved in your child’s care.
Patients over the age of 12 must provide written consent to share details of their appointments with parents, in accordance with provincial and college regulations and PHIPA.
We understand parenting for children and youth experiencing mental health difficulties can be very challenging. We also offer parenting support sessions to help parents with their own concerns to better support their families!
The price of a session varies depending on the practitioner’s credential and duration of the service. To see prices, please go to our booking page and select the service and practitioner of your interest.
In general, we can bill most insurance companies directly for services booked and billed as Psychology and Social Work. This includes psychology appointments provided by psychotherapists. Is the program covered by OHIP or private insurance?
BeWell Health Centres is a private mental health centre. Though we are not covered by OHIP, our assessment programs are covered by most private insurance plans. Please speak to your insurance provider to determine your total psychology coverage per calendar year, the cap on each psychology session, and the coverage for psychological assessments.
The assessment program will be billed under Psychology sessions or Psychology assessments.
If any of the following symptoms resonate with you, then you might benefit from an ADHD assessment. We will also assess other conditions that can mask ADHD, such as Adjustment Disorder, Depression, Anxiety, and more.
- You are often distracted and not able to focus on what you need to do
- You are forgetful or misplacing things
- You are feeling scattered or overwhelmed
- You have difficulty getting started or finishing tasks/chores/activities (especially when it’s something you want to do!)
- You get bored easily or feel like you always must be doing something
- You constantly overestimate and/or underestimate time it takes to do things or go places
Our program gathers an in-depth understanding of an individual’s challenges and offers a unique, holistic approach to evaluation.
We do not guarantee that ADHD will be diagnosed at the end of your assessment. However, most importantly, you will receive a detailed report with recommendations uniquely tailored to your symptoms and presenting concerns with the opportunity to discuss the next steps with your assessing psychologist. Regardless of the diagnosis, you also have a chance to complete a consultation with our psychiatrist.
At BeWell Health Centres, we believe understanding your cognitive abilities can be incredibly valuable, whether you are seeking academic or career guidance, or simply want to gain a better understanding of yourself.

Psychologists do their utmost to complete an assessment in the timeframe allocated, which is an established standard based on clinical research and program development. Cases where the psychologist believes more time is required, a supplementary session may be requested that will be at an additional cost above the current pricing of the program. This may occur if one’s case is more complex or if the psychologist deems more time is required for case conceptualization.
If you have questions about coverage or payment, call or text our Care Team at (647) 715-3900.
Psychotherapists’ and Social Workers’ education paths and experiences may differ, but they are comparable enough that both types of professionals are able to offer psychotherapy appointments. They are often covered under the same line item in insurance policies. Social Workers practices are typically more trans-disciplinary and community focused.
We are proud to host practitioners as diverse as the communities we serve. We offer psychotherapy in English, Urdu, Hindi, Punjabi, Gujarati, Polish, Russian, Farsi, and Spanish.
We invite you to explore our team page and apply your preferred filters to match you with the right therapist.
The price of a session varies depending on clinicians’ credentials and duration of the service. To see prices, please go to our booking page and select the service and clinician of your interest.
We accept American Express, Cash, Cheque, Mastercard, Visa, and E-Transfer. We provide detailed receipts complete with clinician licensure information for your records and possible insurance reimbursement.
We are happy to receive patient referrals! We often work closely with medical offices to deliver integrative care. Visit our Healthcare Partners page to learn more.
We are not a crisis centre or emergency support line, nor does BeWell support clients in immediate distress. If you require urgent care or are concerned about the safety of yourself or others, please dial 911 or report to your nearest emergency room.
