Registered Social Worker

Fiona is a Registered Social Worker who is passionate about helping people navigate their past while being mindful of the present, so they can obtain the future they desire. She has experience working with young parents and their children and is currently working in domestic violence with individuals who have used abusive behaviour. Fiona works from a restorative lens and believes that helping one individual heal can strengthen families, intimate-partner relationships, neighbourhoods, and society. Fiona’s experience has allowed her to work with individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, substance use issues, grief and loss, anger, trauma, and stress. Fiona draws from modalities including but not limited to CBT, mindfulness, collaborative-problem solving, and solution-focused therapy.

Fiona works from a client-centred, strengths-based approach. She desires to provide a space where individuals feel safe to share while exploring some difficult emotions. Fiona loves bringing to light the strengths and resources that clients already hold but may have trouble seeing due to difficult life circumstances.

Education: Fiona is a Registered Social Worker and in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW). She holds a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) from McMaster University, as well as a BA in Health Studies. Recent professional development certificates include CBT Tier 1 – Foundations & Tier 2 – Anxiety and Depressive Disorders at Laurier University, Collaborative Problem-Solving Approaches, Restorative Justice Practices, Applied Suicide Skills Intervention Training (ASIST), and SickKids Infant & Early Mental Health Promotion.
