What is a Psychological Assessment?



A Psychological Assessment consists of a series of In-Depth Tests (Medical, Cognitive, Emotional, and/or Behavioural testing) to understand the Symptoms and Conditions impacting your life, get Treatment Recommendations, and apply for Work/School accommodations if needed.
The Assessment Process consists of:
- Clinical Interview
- Review of relevant background history
- Psychological Tests
- Debrief session & Treatment planning

Psychological Diagnosis & Report in Four Weeks
This part of the program takes place over two one-hour sessions. During this time, we'll do a semi-structured clinical interview to get a sense of your background and presenting concerns.
Complete a series of self-reporting testing from the comfort of your home. If additional support is needed, a member of our support team will complete them with you virtually.
Meet with your Psychologist to go over the Diagnosis, discuss Clinical Recommendations, and next steps.
Short-Term Medication Management with our Psychiatry Team & Treatment Teams including Psychologists, Psychotherapists, & Social Workers. (Not part of the cost of the program)
Program fees: $1,750*
(Paid in 7 instalments over 4-6 weeks)
* Please note that the total cost of an assessment is dependent on the total time spent to complete it, which is variable due to our individualized approach. Additional time may be warranted to ensure a comprehensive evaluation. Additional time is billed at $250/hr.

Here’s a breakdown of what each kind of professional offers:
- Psychotherapists and Social Workers offer talk therapy. Their education and experience are comparable, and they are often covered under the same line item in insurance policies.
- Psychologists often have a Doctorate of Clinical Psychology and can perform assessments and give medical diagnoses. They also offer talk therapy.
- Psychiatrists are medical doctors who specialize in the prescription of medications for mental health concerns.

The decision between a Psychological Assessment and Talk Therapy depends on your specific needs and goals. Here are some factors to consider:
Psychological Assessment:
- Receive diagnostic clarity to understand the full scope of your Mental Health
- Obtain an individualized treatment plan according to your specific emotional needs and areas of concerns
- Gain specialized insight on your current functioning.
Talk Therapy:
- Receive emotional support and promote personal growth
- Address emotional and behavioural challenges
- Address specific Mental Health concerns and challengers through targeted interventions

The full Cost of the Program is $1,750 and is billed and paid as follows:
- $250 deposit to secure your spot in the program. This payment will be credited towards the feedback session.
- Six payments of $250 over the course of three weeks.
This program is covered by most Private Insurance plans. Please speak to your Insurance Provider to determine your:
- Total Psychology coverage for the year
- Cap on each Psychology session
- Coverage for Psychological Assessments
The Assessment Program has full Psychologist coverage, so it can be covered under Psychology Sessions or Psychology Assessments.
